World Cup Update - Day 14

CZECH REPUBLIC 0 - 2 ITALY

The Czech's had their fate in their hands....and with Milan Baros starting for the first time in this World Cup, they looked to at least make a game of it....
EA Sports actually ran a simulation of this World Cup using their 2006 FIFA World Cup game and the result had the Czech Republic winning the World Cup.
Even computers are wrong, sometimes....Maybe next time boys!!

GHANA 2 - 1 USA

The US had to win this game....they didn't.
Although I personally didn't think that they would make it out of this group, I was cheering for them.
That first loss really damaged their spirits, so many expectations.

CROATIA 2 - 2 AUSTRALIA

After going down 2-1 Australia fought back and were awarded a goal, even though Harry Kewell was offside.
I think they would have come back and tied the match up even if that goal would have been waved off.
The ref clearly lost control of the match with Croatian players pushing and grabbing at him. At one point he gave one player 2 yellows, but never gave him a red. Then, into stoppage time that same player grabed onto the refs arm to yell at him and was given his 3rd yellow card and then shown the red, but by then the match was already over.

JAPAN 1 - 4 BRAZIL

Even though Brazil didn't play ALL of the superstars....they proved that their bench is deep. After the 3rd Brazilian goal, this game got boring.
Ronaldo did tie the record for most goals in World Cup competition though.
