World Cup Update - Day 20

ARGENTINA 1 - 1 GERMANY
(Germany win 4-2 on penalty kicks)
Argentina looked really strong, but then Germany scored and then it went to extra time and then penalties.

UKRAINE 0 - 3 ITALY

Italy was never in danger in this match and Ukraine really didn't show any fire and didn't create many chances for themselves.

Germany will play Italy in the next round.

World Cup Withdrawals

After 19 straight days of at least 2 games per day....There was no football today.

It's like I don't have anything to talk about with the guys at work.

I don't have to make my daily picks for the office pool.

There's nothing recorded on my DVR....No matches to watch.

I need Friday to get here fast!!

Nick Lachey CLIX It

This is a pretty funny commercial....

World Cup Update - Day 18

AUSTRALIA 0 - 1 ITALY

This is not how you want to lose a match....

Francesco Totti scores from the penalty spot in the 93rd minute. Blackburn Rovers defender Lucas Neill brought down Fabio Grosso inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot.

Game over Socceroos! (I was rooting for you!)

UKRAINE 0 (3) - 0 (0) SWITZERLAND

Ukraine wins the penalty shoot-out and move on to the next round.

Italy will meet Ukraine in the next round.

World Cup Update - Day 17

ECUADOR 0 - 1 ENGLAND

ABC show Beckham still in the tunnel waiting for the teams to come out onto the pitch and he looks like he's ready for a street fight! Hopefully that's gonna be a good sign!!

Ashley Cole saved England's World Cup life early in the first half. The Arsenal defender comes in a gets a sliding deflection on an almost wide open shot for Carlos Tenorio of Ecuador.

England again play an awful half of football, in the first half. Hopefully that means they'll play better football in the second half.

BECKHAM SCORES!!
England wins!

HOLLAND 0 - 1 PORTUGAL

Portugal score in the 23rd minute....and it holds up for the win.

Unfortunately, another ref steals the headlines as he ejects 4 players and ties the World Cup record for yellow cards with 16!

England will meet Portugal in the next round.

Rooney's Nike Ad

This is Wayne Rooney, England and Manchester United striker.

This is a
Nike poster ad. Something you would see at a bus stop or in the subway....maybe a magazine.

This ad is getting a lot of negative press in England. This ad is also only seen in England.

An article in the
Daily Mail says that people are complaining that the poster is too Christ-like and bloody.

I follow English football, so when I saw the ad, I knew it was Wayne Rooney. I also knew that the way his body is painted is representing the English flag. I think the "Warrior Pose" that he is in, truly is showing his passion for his country and for football.

I showed this same picture to a couple of friends before posting to get their opinion. One said that he didn't even know that was the English flag. He thought that the Union Jack was the flag of England, but he found nothing offensive.

The other friend I asked was a woman, the first thing she said was, "Well, I know that's the England flag." She did say that the red looked like blood....but wasn't offended by it.

What do you think?

World Cup Update - Day 16

IT'S ELIMINATION TIME!!

Loser goes home....

SWEDEN 0 - 2 GERMANY

Germany scores twice in the first 15 minutes. Podolski scores both goals and Germany was in control of the whole match the whole time.

Larsen missed a penalty kick, high to the right....and then Sweden had a man sent off.

MEXICO 1 - 2 ARGENTINA

Teams that score first in this World Cup are 32-6-6....Mexico scored first, in the 6th minute. Then Mexico scored again 3 minutes later! Unfortunately it was an own goal.

In extra time, Argentina scores on a beautiful strike from Rodriguez!!
Germany will meet Argentina in the next round

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

The Showbiz Show with David Spade

If you're not watching this show by now, I have to ask....WHY NOT!!??

David Spade is as funny as ever in this ½ hour show.

One of the best things about the show is it's intro. Spade puts himself into a scene of a hit TV series and makes some jokes that go along with the scene....like this....

Then the show is usually broken up into 3 parts:

News
(This is David's take on the past weeks BEST entertainment stories!)

There I Said It
(This is an editorial type part of the show)

....and then Random Guests and other entertainment type stories.

It's on Comedy Central on Thursday nights....CHECK IT OUT!!

World Cup Update - Day 15

UKRAINE 1 - 0 TUNISIA

Ukraine just needed to tie, they went a step further and "Shevie" scored from the penalty spot for the win.

SAUDI ARABIA 0 - 1 SPAIN

Spain still look pretty strong....even though they were playing Saudi Arabia.

SWITZERLAND 2 - 0 SOUTH KOREA

Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos scores the first goal of the match....turns out they didn't even need the second goal!!

TOGO 0 - 2 FRANCE

Big day for Arsenal players....current and former. Patrick Viera scored and assisted on Thierry Henry's goal in France's win over Togo. Plus Emmanuel Adebayor had a few chances for Togo.

World Cup Update - Day 14

CZECH REPUBLIC 0 - 2 ITALY

The Czech's had their fate in their hands....and with Milan Baros starting for the first time in this World Cup, they looked to at least make a game of it....
EA Sports actually ran a simulation of this World Cup using their 2006 FIFA World Cup game and the result had the Czech Republic winning the World Cup.
Even computers are wrong, sometimes....Maybe next time boys!!

GHANA 2 - 1 USA

The US had to win this game....they didn't.
Although I personally didn't think that they would make it out of this group, I was cheering for them.
That first loss really damaged their spirits, so many expectations.

CROATIA 2 - 2 AUSTRALIA

After going down 2-1 Australia fought back and were awarded a goal, even though Harry Kewell was offside.
I think they would have come back and tied the match up even if that goal would have been waved off.
The ref clearly lost control of the match with Croatian players pushing and grabbing at him. At one point he gave one player 2 yellows, but never gave him a red. Then, into stoppage time that same player grabed onto the refs arm to yell at him and was given his 3rd yellow card and then shown the red, but by then the match was already over.

JAPAN 1 - 4 BRAZIL

Even though Brazil didn't play ALL of the superstars....they proved that their bench is deep. After the 3rd Brazilian goal, this game got boring.
Ronaldo did tie the record for most goals in World Cup competition though.

World Cup Update - Day 13

ANGOLA 1 - 1 IRAN

Loco (the dude with the hair) got hurt in this match....If Angola would have scored one more goal things would have gotten interesting!

MEXICO 1 - 2 PORTUGAL

Portugal didn't sit down on this one....they still look strong.

HOLLAND 0 - 0 ARGENTINA

I'm honestly surprised that this was a nil - nil draw....so much fire-power from Argentina and Holland is no push over offensively either.

Oh well....good luck in the next round.

SERBIA & MONT. 2 - 3 IVORY COAST

The Ivory Coast win their first-ever World Cup match with a terrific comeback. They deserved to win and win without Drogba, no less. They can leave the tournament proud of their performance in a very tough group.

Shaq wins another NBA title

I honestly hope that wherever they are in Southern California, that Jerry Buss and Kobe Bryant are able to get rid of that pain in their guts!

That pain boys, is the feeling of the DIESEL punching you right in the stomach!! Telling you that you shouldn't have gotten rid of him.

I would love it if at sometime this week, Shaq makes some mention of the Lakers and Kobe. Something like "it could've been you, Kobe." I would freakin die laughing.

Don't get me wrong....I AM a Lakers fan and have been for almost 20 years....I'm just not much of a Kobe fan anymore.

Congratulations to Gary Payton, Pat Riley, D-Wade, Shaq, Zo and the rest of the Miami Heat on winning Miami's first NBA Championship!!
