Anderson Cooper ROCKS!

from the BlogBerry....

I'm sitting here on the couch watching Anderson Cooper 360 and he's reporting on the war in Iraq and he says this:

"Today in Iraq was marked by more mayhem. In one attack, a suicide
bomber decided that elderly women were a fitting target. He blew
himself up at an old folks home."

I like the way he can use sarcasm to report a news story and at the same time show how stupid and heartless terrorism can be.

World Cup Update - Day 12

ECUADOR 0 - 3 GERMANY

Germany go into the round of 16 in fine form. They look difficult to beat.
Good Luck to Sweden!

COSTA RICA 1 - 2 POLAND

Poland finally show up to the World Cup....too little, too late.
Sorry gentlemen, you've been eliminated.

SWEDEN 2 - 2 ENGLAND

Once again, England play one great half of football and one really bad half of football.
At least they're consistant.

PARAGUAY 2 - 0 TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

After a draw against Sweden and a really good game against England, I thought T&T could win this game.
I think they made a good showing at this World Cup and can return home with their heads held high.

World Cup Update - Day 11

TOGO 0 - 2 SWITZERLAND

What is going on with this team....first the coach is out, then he's in....then the players are going to boycott the match, then they play.

Hopefully they don't show up for their match against France.

SAUDI ARABIA 0 - 4 UKRAINE

Shevchenko finally scores!

SPAIN 3 - 1 TUNISIA

I'll tell you I was surprised to see it take more than an hour to answer back at Tunisia's goal in the 8th minute. Spain is still a power to deal with and Saudia Arabia will be it's next victim on Friday.

More Random World Cup Thoughts

Why do the ABC/ESPN announcers have to repeat the same "facts" over and over and OVER??!!

1) I know that Croatian kid is the son of the coach
....I got it.

2) Ronaldo's allegedly fat....and the president of Brazil said he was fat
....I got it.

3) All the Brazil facts....only team in every World Cup....won more World Cups than any other county....all the players go by one name
....I got it.

(SIDE NOTE HERE....With all the great Brazilian one namers....how does FRED choose FRED? Come on....shouldn't there be a committee in Brazil that helps you pick your one name??)

4) Oh hey....did you know that German great Franz Beckenbauer said there's too many yellow cards in this World Cup?....Yeah, I knew and then you've told me at least once every time a freakin card is shown!! He said it more than a week ago
....I got it.

5) On any day that the US is playing, it's like a freakin national holiday on ABC/ESPN. It's drilled into my skull that the US has got to win their games, and now they have to win against Ghana and here's all the ways that they can still advance
....I got it.

My Father's Day

Today started out with my oldest daughter waking me up (since I got to sleep in).

"Happy Father's Day, Dad!!!"

Then my wife and youngest daughter follow into the room with gifts!! WHOO HOOO!

A fogless mirror for the shower, a pair of white shorts, a blue shirt and some sandals!!
AWESOME! SUMMER CLOTHES!

We're going to lunch and to the
Carlsbad Outlets today so we've gotta get ready and get going!!

Lunch at Islands and then off to the outlets....

The one thing I love about the Carlsbad Outlets is that there's an Oakley Vault there!! I LOOOOOVE Oakleys! I haven't wore any other sunglasses since my sophomore year in high school. I got a good deal on a new pair of Oakley FOURS.

These are my new babies! This particular model is about 4½ years old and I've wanted a pair ever since they first came out. A friend of mine bought a pair back then and actually had prescription (clear) lens put in them. These do have yellow lens, but there's a blue shiny coating on the lens that you can't see in this picture. I wore them right after I got outside of the store. I forgot how nice it is to have yellow lens. They make things so much sharper and crisp.

The wife also bought some stuff. And we bought a
Groovy Girl for "Loo" She likes her new doll, we think it looks a bit like her.
We also got some odds and ends and other stuff.

Then it was time to start to head home...but not before we get to go to
El Torito Grill for dinner! Yum!

Thanks girls, I had a GREAT DAY!!

World Cup Update - Day 10

CROATIA 0 - 0 JAPAN

This was a pretty entertaining match, even though there wasn't a goal.

AUSTRALIA 0 - 2 BRAZIL

Brazil didn't really look like Brazil for the majority of this match....but they got the win and that's all that matters.

SOUTH KOREA 1 - 1 FRANCE

France get robbed....that ball was behind the line. If FIFA would have adopted the technology that is available to them, that would have been a goal.
Then Abidal & Zidane get yellows and both won't be available for the final group stage match against Togo.

ADDENDUM - ABC, ESPN & ESPN 2's World Cup Coverage

Rob Stone & Robin Fraser....I'm only 4 minutes into the Japan Croatia match and I already think that these two are the worst team I've heard so far!

World Cup Update - Day 9

PORTUGAL 2 - 0 IRAN

Portugal still don't look completely whole. Ronaldo is still the ball hog that he always is at ManU...but they still manage to keep on winning.

GHANA 2 - 0 CZECH REPUBLIC

Ghana show that they didn't come into this World Cup to get walked on!!

To be honest though, I didn't think they had a chance in this match! Very entertaining match though.

ITALY 1 - 1 USA

The US looked great early, very inspired play.

German great, Franz Beckenbauer was right, when he said, earlier this week that there were too many yellow cards in this World Cup. There were a total of 7 cards. Italy had 2 yellows and 1 red & the US had 2 yellows and 2 reds.

Another blogger, the Unknown Column wrote about Italy's passion for diving here....I think it showed in this game. All they would have to do is "feel" a US player near them and they'd go down to the pitch.

I'm not the biggest Team USA soccer fan, but having 24 fouls called against you, compared to the 13 that were called against Italy....there's something wrong here. Hopefully that ref won't be in charge of another match in this
World Cup.

Britney Spears Interview

You saw it....I know you did!!

My first question is did we REALLY need a whole hour for this interview??

What was it NBC?

Oh wait....I know what it was....you knew that Matt Lauer could make BritBrit cry! That's so cruel!!

No, No....the real reason was Britney finally answers questions about Federleezee!! Is he living in the basement? Do you love him? Is he a good husband?

The best moment had to be, when Britney said of her husband...."He's Simple."

How awesome is that??!!!

OK....I think we all know why there was a full hour of Britney....

How many boob shots were there and how did we not catch Matt Lauer looking at them??

Oh yeah, the magic of editing!!

World Cup Update - Day 8

ARGENTINA 6 - 0 SERBIA & MONTENEGRO

6 GOALS!!....WOW!
I have to say Argentina look REALLY GOOD!

HOLLAND 2 - 1 IVORY COAST

van Persie & van Nistelrooy get on the board and help move Holland into the elimination round.

MEXICO 0 - 0 ANGOLA

Mexico hit the woodwork so many times in this game, I stopped counting!
Angola made a game of it at least, this result could shake up the group.
We'll have to wait and see what happens with Portugal and Iran tomorrow.

World Cup Update - Day 7

ECUADOR 3 - 0 COSTA RICA

Ecuador are for real!! I'm really looking forward to watching them play Germany next!

ENGLAND 2 - 0 TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

What's up England? Seriously, these boys looks B-A-D....they definitely aren't coming into these matches with any heart. Thank God for Rooney and Lennon, being subbed in. Rooney just brought a spark and got the crowd into it again, but Lennon, did a great job creating space for himself and also drew two players to him which opened up space for Beckham. Who is still spot on with his crosses, but they need some fire!
COME ON ENGLAND!

SWEDEN 1 - 0 PARAGUAY

If this World Cup is remembered for anything, it should be remembered for all of the late goals! Freddie Ljungberg scores in the 89th minute.

new artist

This piece....

Loo's Garden (acrylic on canvas)

Is my 4 year old daughter's first non-crayon piece of art. She did such an awesome job and had such a great time painting it.

There's a good story of the picture also....

"There's the sun, and some red roses and here's a rain cloud and there's one little raindrop for the flowers"

World Cup Update - Day 6

SPAIN 4 - 0 UKRAINE

Did you expect anything less?
But this group should be pretty easy for Spain.

TUNISIA 2 - 2 SAUDI ARABIA

Tunsia score in extra time to get the draw.

GERMANY 1 - 0 POLAND

91st minute goal from sub Oliver Neuville gives Germany their second win and 6 points.
